MEASURE
2010 Measure ‘C’ Facilities Improvement Program3333 Ronald Way, Concord, CA 94521-1098 (925) 682-8000 Ext 85690 March 28, 2012 Steven Lawrence Superintendent Dear Staff, Students, Families and Friends of the Mt. Diablo Elementary School Community: On behalf of the entire 2010 Measure C team we wanted to take this opportunity to notify everyone associated with the Mt. Diablo Elementary School site that, after months of detailed planning and design we are now poised to start the actual construction and installation of new, high efficiency heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at your school. This long anticipated improvement to the school site will provide state of the art heating and air conditioning in the classrooms and administrative areas, significantly improving the comfort and air quality in all learning and working environments. We are genuinely excited about this project and remain grateful for the opportunity to enhance both the educational and work experience for those we serve. This project is extremely complex and involves the intensely detailed coordination of multiple trades within an extraordinarily short and compressed time line. From the date the school year ends in June we only have a few short weeks to complete all major construction work. In an effort to optimize the potential for project completion for the start of school in August we are respectfully requesting your patience as we allow the contractors to begin some of their work during spring break and then, only where and when permitted by the site, to work after hours in specified areas throughout the remainder of the school year. All such work will be coordinated with the site administrator sufficiently in advance to minimize disruption to classroom activities, testing activities, staff operations, after-school and community use of the school. We have provided informational brochures to the site which outlines basic information about this project. We encourage you to review the information and plans presented in the brochure and to feel comfortable in contacting us with any questions or concerns you might have about any facet of the project whatsoever. If, at any time during the construction process you feel that your needs or concerns are not being adequately addressed, please alert your site administrator immediately and we will respond immediately. Please know that we are especially mindful of the impact that the installation of a project like this can have on the day to day operations of the site and the educational programs provided at your school. We also are keenly aware of the impact this ambitious construction project can have on the planned start of school in August and the need to get back into classrooms and offices. Moreover, we are aware of the short-term inconveniences that you as administrators, teachers, students, support staff, parents, caregivers and neighbors are being asked to tolerate during construction. Be assured, we do not take your cooperation and support for granted and remain genuinely appreciative for your patience and understanding. We thank you for this opportunity to improve your school site. All of us on the Measure C team are grateful for your continuing cooperation and enthusiasm for this project.
