Registration

To enter Kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year, your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2018.

Children who are five years old between September 2 and December 2, 2018 are eligible for transitional kindergarten in August.

Registration packets must be completed, and requires the following:

• Kindergarten registration forms

• Original or certified copy of birth certificate (or other official proof of date of birth)

• Immunization records/vaccinations from a health care provider (indicating all requirements have been met)

• Two (2) original documents to verify residence in our attendance area (one of them must be a photo ID). Please note that these documents cannot be utility bills, but must be legal documents such as property tax bill, or rental agreements. (more info in the registration packet)

• Any completed school entry physical and dental examination

Intradistrict Transfers

Intradistrict Transfer applications for incoming Kindergarteners may be requested on or after the student is registered at his/her school of residence on kindergarten registration day. There is a deadline for application - please contact the school office for details.

New enrollees to the district must register at their home school, by bringing the following to the school office:

• Original birth certificate 
• Three original documents to verify where the child resides (one must be a photo ID, such as parent's driver's license). These can include:

Current real estate tax bill

Current monthly mortgage statement or coupon

Signed and dated lease agreement

Pay stubs

Driver's license and/or state ID

• Written immunization record from a health care provider

Applications are available at MDUSD schools and the District Office, 1936 Carlotta Drive, Concord 94519.

Completed applications must be submitted between October 3 - January 17 for the following school year to the District Office. No applications will be accepted after the January 17th deadline.

Students continuing on at MDE obtain their class assignments at the annual Prep Day event, which usually takes place the week before the start of school. Parents must turn in all required forms in order to receive the class assignments.

Prep Day is also an opportunity to learn more about school and community programs and events, to purchase spirit wear and yearbooks, and to sign up for a number of volunteer opportunities.
